When I opened my first practice, I didn’t have investors or a business degree. At the time, I was working long hours for someone else, learning everything I could about how to run a business, how to lead a team, and how to treat people well. It was valuable experience, but something inside me knew it was time to put that same effort into my own dream.

One evening in Costa Rica, sitting with my husband as the sun set over the water, we decided it was time for me to take a chance. I had no start-up money, no big business loan, and no fancy plan. What I did have was an idea, grit, and the willingness to work hard for something that mattered.

From the very beginning, it was important to me to create a business that supported the life I wanted to live. I wanted to be present with my kids, travel often, and build a schedule that left room for joy instead of burnout. I wasn’t always perfect at it, but I always came back to that vision — building a practice that worked for me, not the other way around.

When I opened my clinic in 2014, I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned even more. Each setback became a chance to pause, regroup, reevaluate, and recharge. Those moments of uncertainty became the foundation for clarity and growth.
